Welcome!
I’m glad you’re here.
My name is Rachel Gerhardt, I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and Certified Clinical Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). As a trauma-informed counsellor, I am focused on a collaborative and person-centred approach to counselling. My goal is to support each client in building a toolbox of skills where they can feel comfortable, confident, and ready to tackle their days with. I specialize in working with teens, adults, and couples.
If you find that you are wearing the weight of the world on your shoulders; strongly impacted by the words, stress, and actions of others; or wanting to set better boundaries around stress-inducing situations or relationships, I would love to connect with you in a free 15-minute consultation.

“You can’t pour from an empty cup”
This phrase is a gentle reminder that caring for yourself isn’t optional — it’s essential, especially in a world that glorifies the “hustle and grind.”
Taking time to refill your own cup by doing what nourishes you helps you return to life feeling renewed, grounded, and better able to support others.
Self-care isn’t selfish.
Your well-being — and your ability to show up as the person you want to be — matters just as much as the needs of those around you.
You are a priority.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Therapy (also called counselling) is a confidential space where you have the opportunity to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without having a cater your language or tone of voice, or have to worry about saying something that might offend anyone. It is a process that is designed to help you understand yourself better, work through challenges, and build tools for positive change. We see therapy as a gift to yourself.
-
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, overloaded, stuck, anxious, or simply curious about personal growth, therapy can be helpful. You don’t need to be in crisis — many people come to therapy to build self-awareness and strengthen the skills and tools they already have.
-
The first session is mainly about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and how I can best support you. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and see if you feel comfortable with me as your therapist.
-
It depends on your goals and needs. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others benefit from ongoing support over several months or longer. We work together to determine what feels right for you.
Just a little more info for you - When we first start therapy, we tend to front load our sessions if we can. This means having more sessions right up front so we can build an understanding of who you are, how you see the world, what types of tools and skills you already have. This allows me to better tailor the tools I bring out to you. Once I bring out tools, then we’re able to space our appointments out so see how the tools are working and how you’re feeling.
-
Yes. What you share in therapy stays private, with a few exceptions required by law — such as concerns about your safety or someone else’s. We’ll go over confidentiality in detail during your first session.
-
Therapy can help with a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, and self-esteem. It can also be a space for personal growth, reflection, and self-discovery.
-
I offer both. You can choose what feels most comfortable — whether that’s meeting in person in a calming office setting or connecting virtually from your own space.
I also offer sessions via telephone or in-person but not in the office. I’m more than happy to meet up for a walk or just to sit outside. Whichever environment feels most comfortable for you.
-
That’s completely okay! Many clients are new to therapy. I see therapy as a collaborative conversation where we walk through each step together ensuring you feel supported throughout the process.
I’m not someone who takes an expert seat in this. I understand that I have never lived a day in your shoes. You have. You bring all the life experienes, I bring the education, and we journey together helping you navigate this thing called life.
-
You can reach out through the contact form, email, phone, or text. I’ll respond as soon as possible to help you find a time that works.
-
Finding the right fit is important. If it doesn’t feel like the right match, that’s okay — it’s part of the process. Just like we won’t be friends with everyone we meet, we won’t connect with every therapist we meet.
I can help connect you with another therapist who may be a better fit for your needs.
